Goals of your project/s:
I have three goals for the second half of my internship. The first is to continue to upkeep news articles, publications, and highlights of the site.
The second is to finish the publications page code for the publications tab.
The third is to build a better system for working with learning modules. Currently, there are a few learning articles but mostly links to websites that are not fully utilized. Starting with the internal learning resource SATERN, I want to find different AIML learning modules that I believe will be interesting to users of the site and start highlighting them.
Describe what you did during your internship:
The purpose of my internship was to update and upkeep the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning internal SharePoint website for NASA.
Over the course of my internship, I have worked on two main projects: adding new resources and information, and updating pages to format content with artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML).
I was able to add new content to AIML in the News, news articles related to AIML; Publication and Use Case papers in AIML; and new learning resources.
I was able to update the pages for Use Cases, Publications, and Learning Topics. For Use Cases and Learning Topics, I created pages with web parts for automated formatting when adding new content allowing for easier and consistent content. For Publications, I was given the opportunity to work with code to create a table that updates automatically from the NASA NTRS website.
Overall, I created better formatting and page design for the website utilizing AIML techniques and added many new resources and content for the entire NASA agency.
Did you achieve your goals? What were the results and conclusions?
I was able to achieve all of my goals for the internship as well as to exceed my own expectations as well as my mentor’s with the improvements that I was able to make to the AIML site.
Describe positive lessons learned from this experience:
I learned a lot during this internship including gaining experience with code and website development. Both of which will serve to help me in my future with graduate school and beyond.
Describe negative lessons learned from this experience:
Time management is always a lesson that needs to be learned. During this internship, I was able to learn my limits with balancing school and work while also maintaining my mental and physical health.
