Hannah Wubben

February 2, 2022

Student: Hannah Wubben, Undergraduate Student in Mathematics and Computer Science, Loras College
Research Mentor:
Dr. Robert Keller

Math in Animated Movies

I have been working with my mentor Dr. Rob Keller to conduct research surrounding the mathematics in animated movies. This process involves learning and digesting a number of key animation techniques including simulation, character modeling and methods for modeling objects in motion and in collision with one another. These techniques rely on a lot of mathematical and physical theories and applications. The ultimate goal is to eventually create a short, computer animated video clip using these mathematical methods and coding. I will be using a program called Processing to code this short video clip.
