Due to the cancellation of all in-person activities for the NASA SLI competition, the Webster City Rocketry Team decided to use the at-home launch option and launch their rocket they have been working on. They traveled to Argonia, Kansas to take part in the weekend launch called KLOUDBurst 30. This allowed them to launch their rocket while watching other teams launch their own high powered rockets.
The competition flight was very successful, and the rocket performed perfectly with a beautiful launch and flight. It recovered successfully without any damage. The Low Altitude Weather Sensors (LAWS) payload worked well and captured data from the entire duration of the rocket flight.
The stated altitude goal for the competition was 5,280 feet, and the WC Rocket reached an altitude of 5,162 feet.
NASA held its launch in Huntsville on April 23rd, and results from the at-home launches will be shared at the online awards show in early June.
Congratulations to the Webster City Rocketry Team for their successful flight, and for being a positive impact in the STEM community! Below you will see pictures provided from the event.
