NASA Headquarters- Spaces in Space
August 22, 2022-December 2, 2022
Final Goals of your Project/s:
-Develop an ArGis map with the NASA Citizen Projects
-Recruit and discuss the NASA event with student observers
-Help develop content for the website
Describe what you did during the internship:
During this internship, I helped develop an ArGis map with the Citizen Science projects and contacted students from a Mexican University and an Iowa Community College.
Did you achieve your goals? What were the results?:
Some of the goals were achieved, such as the map, the recruitment of students, and the diverse talks with different subject matter experts. The following interns will carry out the planning and execution of the event. Our team of interns develops a guide for planning NASA events step-by-step so the interns will experience an easy creation of one.
Describe positive lessons learned:
Some of the positive lessons were the support of our mentor. Dr. Aby shows us the human side of an amazing scientist and how personal relations are important to develop successful projects. Another important lesson was that we are more than welcome to ask questions when we don’t understand something or need a new direction on the project.
Describe negative lessons learned:
Some of the negative lessons were the lack of events directed toward interns and the organization of different intern meetings (intern coordinators) without the input of interns or mentors.
